Wedding At Warsaw Biblical Garden

August 3, 2020 Steve Vansak

A romantic dip for the bride and groom underneath the gazebo in Winona Lake, Indiana.

We spent a wonderful morning and afternoon with Marissa and David and their friends and family for their summer wedding in Warsaw, Indiana.

The original plan was a large ceremony and reception in Michigan, but the current health scare in that state had them do a micro wedding instead with a big celebration to follow.

Our day started out with me covering bridal prep at an Air BnB and photographer Jaime with the guys at a nearby hotel.

There was a flurry of gift giving going on between all of the girls, including mom. Honorary male bridesmaid Logan also received a gift. Mom helped with the dress and soon it would be time for two first looks.

On the groom’s side we had detail photos along with a very special “dudoir pose” on the hotel bed. You may want to keep scrolling as the following is NSFW. :)

The father of the bride was the first of our two big reveals. Tears were had and a gift was given. Then it was time for David to make his entrance and present a specially made ring signifying the change of wedding date.

The rain was unexpected and was light but constant all day. This really saturated the colors for photos during and after the wedding ceremony at Warsaw Biblical Garden.

After family photos we strolled around the garden for pictures of the newlyweds along with their wedding party. Then we moved on to Winona Lake, Indiana for romantic beach photos of the bride and groom.

I had recently photographed Marissa and David’s engagement photos in Winona Lake, Indiana at Kelainey’s Sweet Dreams Ice Cream Shoppe and we thought it might be nice to do the same on wedding day. We then made our way along Park Avenue with the lake as our backdrop.

While we were taking photos at the lake, family and friends were prepping the couple’s house where a cake cutting in the kitchen was to take place along with the first dance in the garage.

Romantic Golden Hour Engagement Photos

July 27, 2020 Steve Vansak

Sunset kiss on the rolling hills of Gabis Arboretum in Valparaiso, Indiana.

The golden hour takes place approximately 1 hour or so before sunset. Taking romantic engagement photos at this time enables me to get many golden, yellow and orange hues of light. With the light low, we also have many more areas and angles to choose from.

Ruby and Enrique met me at Gabis Arboretum for their summer engagement session equipped with champagne and glasses as well. I definitely had them pop some bubbly as we made our way around the nature park.

Colors change during the seasons, but at this nature preserve they change even more so. And these summer engagement photos at Gabis Arboretum had some wonderful yellow and purples on display.

I like to have a wide variety of backgrounds so I work my couples pretty hard during our engagement sessions. Once in awhile I let them have some downtime for good behavior!! :)

Micro Wedding Session At Friendship Botanical Garden

July 23, 2020 Steve Vansak

Dust from the overhead sun descends upon the bride and groom.

What in the world is a micro wedding?!! Simply, it’s an intimate affair with guests of 50 or less. Alternately it’s called an elopement wedding or a Zoom wedding. These have always been around but really gained popularity in 2020.

Sometimes a micro wedding is paired down to the couple only with a friend who got ordained as an officiant online. Today’s article is focused on the couple and the portraits we take before or after the exchanging of the vows.

These elopement portraits of Jenny and Christian were all taken at Friendship Botanical Garden, a beautiful location for full weddings as well as micro weddings / elopement ceremonies.

Friendship Botanical Garden is a very large property. So after you jump for joy at having tied the knot, it’s the perfect spot to roam for a few hours getting timeless images of you and your partner. It also has many “mini wedding venues” that can accommodate guests and some are covered as well.

Are you ready to go micro? Think about it - the fewer the guests, the less opinions and the fewer people to please. You can still celebrate with a small group or just make it the two of you.

If you do choose an intimate wedding, I hope you will go pro with the photographs and allow me to get creative with you on location. We can go with nature, urban or indoor chic with the PeerSpace app.

Introducing RW Short Films - Northwest Indiana Wedding Videography

In this post I’m introducing Region Weddings Short Films. Let me explain exactly what it is and then down below will be one of the videos for you to watch.

The Region Weddings Short Film is perfect for couples who would love to have video representation of their entire wedding day, but not in long form.

Many couples find that the RW Short Film is something that they (and others) will watch over and over again to relive their big day. It’s a wonderful memento to pass on to future generations so they can get a sense of what it was like on wedding day, beyond still images.

This type of wedding videography is not intrusive at all. It has no audio so there is no hassle with placing mics upon you or slowing down your day in anyway. It’s all about capturing the moments of the wedding day in video form in an unobtrusive, journalistic style. It is done at the same time as your wedding photos throughout the day.

Includes:

  • 3 to 4 minute film set to music

  • Bridal prep, moments, ceremony, speeches, main dances

  • Hybrid coverage done by lead photographer Steve

  • Delivered via an extra USB in your media case
