July Wedding At County Line Orchard

July 7, 2020 Steve Vansak

Candid moment between the bride and groom at County Line Orchard

Jordan’s grandmother told him to “always be romantic” in his married life to Hallie during her speech before dinner. He started off right by sending her flowers on the morning of her summer wedding at County Line Orchard in Hobart, Indiana.

As soon as I walked into their home I found a friendly bunch awaiting me. I also felt as though I had just crashed a girl’s pajama party as they all had arrived at 4:30am to start hair and make up courtesy of Make Up by Krissy V. I was also excited to photograph Hallie’s incredibly long veil from Something Blue Bridal.

Second photographer Michelle handled the groom prep and and soon it was time for these two to see other for the first look in front of the barn.

Ready for the big reveal.

I’m a big fan of first looks before the ceremony because they are super emotional, wonderful moments and they also enable us to get all of our wedding photos in. This allows the bride and groom an opportunity to truly enjoy their reception later in the day.

These two certainly were not lacking in the emotional department as friends and family looked on during the big reveal.

June Wedding At Aberdeen Manor

June 30, 2020 Steve Vansak

Passionate kiss after a June wedding ceremony.

Two wedding dresses, an outdoor ceremony and a church blessing and the love and support of a whole bunch of friends and family = Kaley and Adam’s June wedding.

This summer wedding day started out at the couple’s home where I photographed bridal decor, hair and make up as well as the bride’s reading of a love letter from her husband to be.

Just before we left for Saint Mary’s Church in Crown Point, Indiana, Kaley had a couple of bridal reveals with her parents as well as the bridesmaids.

Like many churches, Saint Mary’s in Crown Point has crowd size restrictions due to the current health crisis. Nonetheless, this Catholic church wedding ceremony was able to take place and then we were off to Valparaiso, Indiana for an outdoor ceremony in front of friends and family.

I definitely wanted to make sure I captured some photos of the bide and groom at this beautiful church before I took off for the 2nd outdoor ceremony.

Summer Wedding At The Patrician

June 22, 2020 Steve Vansak

The newlyweds embrace under dramatic clouds at The Patrician in Schererville, Indiana.

This past weekend saw a terrific summer wedding at The Patrician in Schererville, Indiana with Samantha and Zach welcoming friends and family to their Disney themed wedding.

Our morning started out at Vanis Salon - Schererville where I captured hair and makeup while Sam and her bridesmaids had some fun with their protective masks.

Before the ceremony, I took the girls out for pictures and then brought them back inside and then it was the guy’s turn. Second photographer Kay helped me out with groomsmen prep and portraits as well.

Samantha’s Dad walked her down the aisle for the ballroom wedding inside of The Patrician. Not only did the flower girl and ring bearer decorate and carry the rings, but they also rolled up the runner afterwards. Somebody give them an tip in ice cream please!!

After family photos it was time for wedding party group pictures and of course the newlyweds.

Soon they’d be introduced by Ever After Events who DJ’d the event along with decorating the room. 219 Productions offered up their famous mirrored photo booth as well. And here is where the Disney theme definitely lit up the room. The wedding cake came courtesy of Cakes By Karen.

After some very comedic speeches from the father of the bride and well as many members of the wedding party, it was time for the first dance.

Wedding At Village Church In Dyer, Indiana

May 25, 2020 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom in silhouette on the altar at Village Church in Dyer, Indiana.

It felt great to be out shooting weddings again and capturing people’s memories. I could not have asked for a better group of folks to do so with than Amanda and Taylor and their families.

This post will be different than what you you usually see here as there was no reception and there were no guests due to the current health emergency in the world. That celebration will come at a different time.

We did have a cake cutting though!! And really, it’s all about the cake… ;)

Home is where this wedding story begins.

As the sign says, “home is where the story begins” with Amanda’s bridesmaids getting hair and makeup done. Everyone was in great spirits and I had fun telling stories with them and photographing the decor for the day.

The wedding ceremony at Village Church in Dyer, Indiana was preceded by a first look with Dad before he brought her down the aisle to the awaiting groom, Taylor.

As their pastor stated, “things happen for a reason” and although many seats may have been empty because of this health crisis, hearts were very full. The groom’s mom was very excited for her son and his bride and it showed when they exited the church.

After family photos and wedding party pictures at church, we all took off for Centennial Park where a “cake ceremony” and “bubble send off” was planned for the newlyweds.

A candid moment between bride and groom during photos at Centennial Park.

While family set up for the cake ceremony, the wedding party and the happy couple wandered Centennial Park with me taking pictures and enjoying the beautiful Spring day we had.

So this was my very first outdoor “cake ceremony” at Centennial Park. It was a great idea! I didn’t know it was happening until the day of but I’m really glad this sweet moment took place.

The bride and groom cut their cake and then exited down the walkway as family and wedding party blew bubbles. They all then grabbed an undercover picnic area and ate some delicious cake.

The official reception will take place later when friends and family can party on the dance floor.
