Photo and Video Hybrid Coverage For Northwest Indiana and Chicago Weddings

February 11, 2025 Steve Vansak

A wedding Short Film at County Line Orchard.

Photo and video hybrid coverage is for those who want video representation of their wedding day without the hoopla of a big production with multiple cameras, audio, and dedicated videographers. Many Midwest wedding couples are choosing to add video in the form of hybrid photo/video wedding coverage.

The 2022 Year In Review

November 27, 2022 Steve Vansak

The Year 2022 saw me shooting weddings all over the Midwest. While I’m primarily known as a Northwest Indiana wedding photographer, I do photograph weddings in southwest Michigan, downtown Chicago and various Illinois locations.

I do travel for weddings as a destination wedding photographer as well. Simply contact me here to chat about your destination wedding.

Introducing RW Short Films - Northwest Indiana Wedding Videography

July 19, 2020 Steve Vansak

In this post I’m introducing Region Weddings Short Films. Let me explain exactly what it is and then down below will be one of the videos for you to watch.

The Region Weddings Short Film is perfect for couples who would love to have video representation of their entire wedding day, but not in long form.

Many couples find that the RW Short Film is something that they (and others) will watch over and over again to relive their big day. It’s a wonderful memento to pass on to future generations so they can get a sense of what it was like on wedding day, beyond still images.

This type of wedding videography is not intrusive at all. It has no audio so there is no hassle with placing mics upon you or slowing down your day in anyway. It’s all about capturing the moments of the wedding day in video form in an unobtrusive, journalistic style. It is done at the same time as your wedding photos throughout the day.

Includes:

  • 3 to 4 minute film set to music

  • Bridal prep, moments, ceremony, speeches, main dances

  • Hybrid coverage done by lead photographer Steve

  • Delivered via an extra USB in your media case

RW Short Films - FAQ

  1. Can I add this to my already booked photography Package 2 or 3? Yes, please contact me here to get this added.

  2. Will you be offering long form video complete with audio? For now, I will refer you to my list of dedicated wedding videographers who specialize in long form wedding videos.

  3. How will I receive my wedding video? This will depend on which wedding photo package you booked. For Package 4 an extra USB will be included within the Media Case.

  4. Will the wedding video be on the web so I can share it with friends and family? Yes. The RW Wedding Film will reside in your online gallery along with all of the images no matter which wedding package you booked.

  5. Can I hire you for a wedding video and not photo? The RW Short Film is only available as an add on to one of the wedding photo packages. However, I’d be more than happy to send a referral your way.

NOTE: The Region Weddings Short Film is bundled into Package 4, but can be added into Package 2 and 3.

Next Steps:

  • Inquire via the Contact Form for availability for your date.

The RW Short Film will be delivered to you at the same time as your wedding photos.

How To Choose A Wedding Videographer

January 26, 2015 Steve Vansak

Above: The complimentary movie poster for booking a wedding film and photography package together.

If you take a look at the Region Weddings film page, you will notice that the term 'videographer' is not mentioned. We prefer 'filmmaker' for a variety of reasons. This is because our filmmaker John Zale shoots in a cinematic, modern style. We want you to be aware that we are interested in delivering to you a film that you and your children's children will want to watch over and over.

We want you to take a look at our video offerings, but we will gladly recommend you should we have your day booked. So lets list what you should look for when choosing your wedding videographer.  At the end of this list, please view our Region Wedding Films Trailer.

  • Experience behind the camera is crucial.  Film making is not easy. It's really nice that your friend is willing to follow you around on your big day with a handheld camcorder, but the results will be something you will watch once and never do so again. John has 20 years of experience in film. Let your friend enjoy the party and let us create a family heirloom for you.
  • To acheive a modern cinematic look, video shot on a DSLR is the way to go. Region Weddings Films are shot exclusively on this type of equipment. An HD camcorder is a sign that your potential videographer has not kept up with the times.
  • Sound will make or break your wedding film. Think about all the You Tube videos you've seen and then turned off because the sound was so bad. We believe in high quality sound.
  • A bright outdoor wedding can give an amateur just as many fits as a dimly lit church. Make sure the person you hire can control the light outdoors as well as bring the light when it doesn't exist.
  • Being promised 10 hours of video during a 10 hour wedding day is a major red flag. We believe in good editing so you have something that will be watched again and again without boredom.
  • Being respectful and not becoming the center of attention is another trademark of an experienced filmmaker. We want you and your family and friends to be the stars of your wedding day.

Watch the wedding films trailer below and then be sure to fill out the Contact Form to see if your wedding day is available for video or photography. If not, we will gladly recommend you to another qualified professional.
