At some point during bridal prep at the beachfront house where the bridesmaids were getting ready, I asked Amanda to let me take a robe photo in front of a bookcase, “if she was a book nerd”. She replied, “Just wait until you see the decor at my venue”.
Oh man, she was not kidding! The work that she and her MOH and others put into those decorations was incredible. I will show more of it later in the reception portion of this sneak peek of Amanda and Jarred’s winter wedding at Barrelhouse - The Venue in Michigan City, Indiana.
I arrived at the beach house during a winter storm, and there were some travel challenges for everyone. However, her group of friends all chipped in to make it a successful day.
She had some of my favorite stylists on hand, too, and Amplified Events as a DJ, so her vendors were dedicated and pros in their field.

Jarred and his groomsmen got ready at the venue, and while the groom got a thumbs up for hosting such a great event, apparently, his bartending skills were not up to snuff for these demanding customers! ;)

Barrelhouse - The Venue is a beautifully restored 150-year-old brick building that once formed part of the original brewery campus. It seemed fitting to have the bride and groom’s first look in the custom bar area that often is served by the neighboring microbrewery) and then do portraits in there as well, as the snow came down outside.

Having all of their loved ones present was essential to the couple, so the ceremony was delayed for 30 minutes due to the wintry conditions outside.
As cold as it may have been outdoors, hearts were warm indoors, and all were smiling as the “flower boys” walked down the aisle just before the bride and her mom.

A book-themed wedding is perfect for couples who love stories, symbolism, and a bit of whimsical charm.
Amanda and Jarred had vintage hardcovers stacked as table placards, guests labeled as authors, vows written like the opening lines of a new chapter, and a photo booth area 9complete with vintage camera) styled like an elegant library.
Soft, romantic lighting and textured paper accents helped create a warm, literary atmosphere, while custom bookmarks added a personal touch.
Their book-themed celebration turned their wedding day into a timeless story they and their guests will never forget.
