Comic Themed Engagement Session

November 27, 2017 Steve Vansak

An engaged couple fights crime in the woods of Crown Point.

Life is good for Joshua and Jessica. They’re keeping the streets of Northwest Indiana safe from super villains… you know, normal couple in love kind of stuff. Luckily on their day off from fighting crime I was able to go on a photo shoot to celebrate their engagement.

Our first stop was Chemshaw 13 Donutz & Comics in Crown Point, Indiana. It was here where our super-heroine Jessica placed her coveted ring upon issue #1 of Spiderman (Renew Your Vows) and exchanged knowing glances with Joshua and his shield.

Kissing in the comic shop.

While inside the shop the two crimefighters looked toward the sky as they heard a calling and off we went towards Lemon Lake County Park.

After ridding the Crown Point park of a number of pesty super villains, Jessica and Joshua continued their engagement session with me. Fall color was still around for our chilly November day. The golden sun certainly helped warm us up.

The sun was beginning to fall and soon these two crimefighters would be off into the night. The Fall leaves were an incredibly burnt orange at this time against the cool blue of the lake.

While the path ahead may have a few super villains to rid the world of, knowing that Jessica and Joshua are ready to suit up is certainly comforting.

Passionate Engagement Session With Fall Color

November 10, 2017 Steve Vansak

Two lovers play along the lakefront during their Fall engagement session.

I discovered right away that Ashley and Michael are a very passionate couple in love.  I didn't have to coax it out of them as we took photographs all around Lemon Lake County Park in Crown Point, Indiana.

Ashley's outfit blended in nicely with all of the Fall color and man did we ever have that!  Lots of yellows and various reds were everywhere as we explored the park.

The fisherman's pier is one of my favorite spots at the park and I was glad to capture some nice moments between these two for their Save the Date Cards.

The temperature was a bit chilly but we got around that by having these two take some romantic walks snuggling close.

Keeping warm on a brisk Fall walk in the park.

Fall Engagement Photos At Taltree Arboretum

October 23, 2017 Steve Vansak

Sun streams through the trees like a fire mist during an engagement session at Taltree Arboretum.

Fall is upon us and the wonderful colors of the season are starting to show.  For Kim and Tim's engagement session we chose Taltree Arboretum to show off their love as well as the wonderful Autumn color.  We also made a quick stop before hand to the iconic old Crown Point Courthouse for sentimental reasons as the groom to be's great grandmother had gotten married there.

Taltree Arboretum is a lovely nature preserve in Valparaiso, Indiana.  I'm always amazed by the different colors on display the various times of the year.

We played with the sun in the background for a romantic glow as well as "falling" leaves.  Kim and Tim played along with my corny jokes and I had a great time capturing their engagement photos.

One of our final shots of the day had Kim and Tim taking a walk among the wildflowers at Taltree with the setting sun putting an orange tinge upon the background.

Summer Engagement Photos At Whiting Lakefront Park

August 4, 2017 Steve Vansak

A romantic kiss at sunset at Whiting Lakefront Park.

Katie and Pat spent part of their Saturday strolling around Whiting Lakefront Park and Whihala Beach in Whiting, Indiana taking romantic engagement photos.  We had the Northwest Indiana Symphony and a regional football game as our soundtrack.  It was a lot of fun!

Katie and Pat live a few blocks from the picturesque park and I envy them as it is a beautiful location to visit.  We made sure to start our session during golden hour for some lovely light and we waiting for a sunset over lake Michigan.

Hidden away along one of the walkways in the park is a gorgeous waterfall with beautiful landscaping.  Katie and Pat and I spent quite a bit of time in this area capturing them from many different angles.

If you go to the beach, sometimes you have to put on some beach wear.  This is exactly what these guys did to showcase some Chicago pride and take some fun photos along the pier.  And no, Pat did NOT throw her in the water!!

A wonderful orange and yellow glow took over as the sun began to set over Whihala Beach. Some silhouette pictures were in order as well as sunset portraits.  We took many more images for Katie and Pat's summer engagement session at Whiting Lakefront Park with much more to come.  Happy summer!!
