Fall Engagement Photos At Taltree Arboretum

October 23, 2017 Steve Vansak

Sun streams through the trees like a fire mist during an engagement session at Taltree Arboretum.

Fall is upon us and the wonderful colors of the season are starting to show.  For Kim and Tim's engagement session we chose Taltree Arboretum to show off their love as well as the wonderful Autumn color.  We also made a quick stop before hand to the iconic old Crown Point Courthouse for sentimental reasons as the groom to be's great grandmother had gotten married there.

Taltree Arboretum is a lovely nature preserve in Valparaiso, Indiana.  I'm always amazed by the different colors on display the various times of the year.

We played with the sun in the background for a romantic glow as well as "falling" leaves.  Kim and Tim played along with my corny jokes and I had a great time capturing their engagement photos.

One of our final shots of the day had Kim and Tim taking a walk among the wildflowers at Taltree with the setting sun putting an orange tinge upon the background.

Fall Wedding At The Allure

October 10, 2017 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom from the balcony of The Allure.

The Allure is a wedding venue which is often described as "Hollywood glamour" and I always try to capture the majestic ballroom empty, but decorated in all it's glory.  I know that Morganne became enamored with it's grandness, so I definitely made a point to sneak away from her getting ready photos to capture the room in a few wide shots before guests entered.  Later in the day we also had her and Chris alone in the room for some romantic wedding pictures.

In the morning I spent time with the soon to be Mrs. Chambers and her bridesmaids capturing hair and make up by Sta Glam, bridal details and of course a good amount of goofing off.  Second photographer Kerrie captured the guy's prep and Chicago Cubs jerseys.

I took Morganne and Chris and their wedding party out into the ballroom seperately for photos and then it was time for the ceremony.

I could very much tell that Morganne's Dad was very happy and proud to be the officiant for his daughter's wedding ceremony.  He even took on shoe tying duties for the kids!! We made sure to get a portrait of him with the newly married couple signing their marriage license as their son gets a little sleepy eyed.  :)

As guests enjoyed the cocktail hour, we made our way up to the ballroom for romantic couple's photos and we even ventured outside as the rain let up for some images at The Laporte Little Theatre Club.

Mini orange pumpkins were mixed with the purple reign of table decor at this Fall wedding.  The tree bark added a nice Autumn touch as well.  Soon it was time for dinner and first dances and then party time!

Chris had some challenges with the garter toss as friends blindfolded him and tied his hands.  However, he proved his skills as the garter made it's way into the crowd of single guys.

Fall Engagement Photos At Lemon Lake Park

November 5, 2015 Steve Vansak

Engagement photo with Fall colors reflecting off the lake.

I have a bit of a history with Amanda and Zach.  See, I took Amanda's senior pictures a number of years ago.  Then I started to see her as a guest at many of the weddings I was shooting.  Soon I noticed she was slow dancing with the same guy at the receptions.  Oh oh, I see a budding romance here!!

It was a thrill to photograph their Fall engagement session at Lemon Lake County Park with the Fall colors at their fullest.  We started with the sun still high and peeking thru the trees and went until sunset.

I asked these two to have a seat on the many logs around the park and chat for awhile for some intimate candid photos.  We also took a walk deep into the swampy section of the lake for a moody silhouette.  Of course, a smiling portrait was in order too.

The Great Leaf Fight Championship of 2015 saw a truce occur between the soon to be married couple.  Truth be told, I do think Zach landed a few more leaves than Amanda.  Perhaps we can have a rematch at the wedding!!

The orange and yellow colored trees reflecting off of the lake was simply breathtaking.  As the couple snuggled on the pier, I captured them with the reflections as our backdrop.

Our session ended with a final stroll along the lakefront and showing off the special Starbucks cup as the couple kissed in the background.

Fall Wedding At St. Mary's Church In Crown Point, Indiana

October 20, 2015 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom hold pumpkins engraved with Thank You.

Krystin and Chachi's Fall wedding featured pumpkins, glowing amber uplighting on the dance floor, leaves, tall trees at Lake County Fairgrounds, a lovely Catholic wedding ceremony, high flying groomsmen on the dance floor and a whole lot of smiling faces from friends, family and the wedding party itself.  Good times, indeed!!  Oh, did I mention pumpkins?!!

Our day started at Krystin and Chachi's home with the bride and her beloved puppy.  The adjective I heard about Krystin all day was the word 'stunning'.

St. Mary's Catholic Church was filled all the way to the back for the ceremony.  The full mass gave me opportunity to get shots from the balcony as well as floor level.  The groom anxiously awaited his bride as Krystin's Dad walked her down the aisle.

After the ceremony we took family photos in the church and then it was off to the Crown Point Square for couple's photos and then Lake County Fairgrounds for some real Fall flavor.

Krystin's list of props included pumpkins, of course, but cute signs, thank you's, her dog Piper and more!!  We had a lot of fun in the woods of Lake County Fairgrounds.

It was now time to get the party started at Villa Cesare in Schererville, Indiana.  The first order of business though was to photograph the spectacular multi tiered wedding cake and all of the October Fall decorations.

Entertaining toasts were met with some great stories and laughter and the dance floor was packed all night.  From young to old, everybody shook their moneymaker!!
