I was incredibly excited to photograph Shannen and Ryan’s springtime wedding at Northwest Indiana church St. Michael’s Parish in Schererville, Indiana. It wasn’t just because of the beautiful (but windy) 80 degree day we were given, but also because this was my 5th wedding for Shannen’s family.

My tips for Notre Dame weddings at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart:
Keep in mind that Notre Dame has a very limited timeframe for pictures after the ceremony. We will only have time for bride and groom photos within the church so I suggest family photos and wedding party group photos outside the church and / or at your reception venue.
Parking can be confusing so be sure to encourage your guests to arrive early.
The photography rules are strict and I always comply with them (no flash allowed during the ceremony, no shots from the balcony or center aisle other than the very back row).
The campus of Notre Dame can be great for pictures. Let’s schedule enough time to do these before heading out to the reception.
Downtown Chicago Wedding In River North Area
A candid moment between the bride and groom on a bridge overlooking the Chicago River.
Demi and Matt were married in downtown Chicago last summer. I had been wanting to showcase their wedding here since then but it was one of the most incredibly busy times I’ve had as a Chicago and Northwest Indiana wedding photographer.

Snow falls upon the dance floor at Aberdeen Manor.
Carrie and Brandon had been planning their winter wedding at Aberdeen Manor Ballroom in Valparaiso, Indiana for quite sometime. The day had finally come and snow was falling when I arrived for bridal prep photos.
I found non-stop laughter and plenty of moments to capture. I even got to pop over to see the groom and his crew as they were nearby.

Carrie had two first looks / reveals. The first was a great moment with her sons who had looks of amazement as they saw mom in her dress. This all lead up to the big reveal with Brandon.
After coming down from the emotional moments of the reveals we realized - it’s cold outside! It was time for portraits of the bride and groom and the wedding party as began arriving for the chapel ceremony.

The wedding ceremony took place inside warm confines of the Aberdeen Chapel. Carrie’s eldest son walked her down the aisle as friends and family looked on. There were plenty of laughs during the proceedings but also some emotional moments that required a few tissues.
Soon we were walking across the street for the rocking reception.
The Aberdeen Manor Ballroom looked elegant as ever and introductions lead into the cake cutting and some spirited speeches. Then it was time for first dances and the opportunity for everyone to celebrate the winter wedding of Carrie and Brandon.
