May Wedding At The Halls Of St. George

May 24, 2022 Steve Vansak

Joanne and Derek’s May wedding at The Halls of St. George in Schererville, Indiana was a family affair in every way. Their daughters and nephew was the wedding party and they all chipped in to help each other out during bridal prep and groom prep.

The on and off again rain kept us on our toes the entire day and ultimately the outdoor wedding ceremony was moved inside. However, all of that rain brought some incredibly rich color to their wedding portraits at nearby Oak Ridge Prairie Park.

Rock and Roll Wedding at the Halls of Saint George

October 21, 2014 Steve Vansak

The groom carries his bride through leaves in Crown Point, Indiana.

Mike and Marcy are a fun couple who love listening and playing music as well as watching football on Sundays while their cat runs around their home.  They told me they were having a band at their wedding reception at the Halls of Saint George and a great one at that, The Crawpuppies whom I know well.  I was excited to capture their day.

We started out at the couple's home in Cedar Lake as Marcy and the girls got their make up done by The Beauty Pros.  Stories were being told and lots of laughs as I took detailed shots of Marcy's garter, shoes and more along with Mike's guitars.  Her mom helped her into her dress as Kurt Cobain looked on from above.

Soon we were off to dodge the rain and cool temperatures at Lemon Lake Park in Crown Point, Indiana for the first look as well as some fun wedding party images and romantic wedding photos of the bride and groom.

Fall colors pop in the background as the bride and groom kiss on the pier.

I let the couple have a few moments on the pier together and took a good number of images to show off the wonderfully saturated Fall color in the background.  We then took wedding party pictures and Marcy and Mike walked all over the park with us taking photos for their wedding book.

The late afternoon wedding ceremony at Halls of Saint George was moved indoors due to cold temperatures and the occasional drizzling rain.  Friends and family whooped it up as the couple were married.  We then scooped them up for a few more images outside the hall before dinner and the party began.

I had a ball covering their rock and roll themed wedding reception, listening to great live music from The Crawpuppies and taking the bridesmaids up for a photo opportunity on the drum kit.  The rings were placed on the Fender Stratocaster to go with the theme of the day.

Summer Wedding at the Halls of St. George

August 11, 2014 Steve Vansak

The bride and groom have their first look inside Lemon Lake Park in Crown Point, Indiana.

Kate and Greg had a wonderful summer day for their outdoor wedding at the Halls of St. George banquet hall in Schererville, Indiana.  We had humidity and sun beating down upon us at times, but with a solid plan for the day, including a fun first look (as seen above and below) at Lemon Lake Park, it was a great wedding day!!

Our day started at the couple's home with the girls getting ready.  I remember the make up artist asking Kate if she was nervous and she said no.  I believe her as she appeared very relaxed with good friends and her mom by her side sharing many laughs together.

I met the guys for their pictures at Lemon Lake Park in Crown Point and the girls met us for the first look and then it was picture time for the wedding party and couples shots.  We captured the greenery and the wonderfully tall trees and Kate and Greg also took a romantic stroll along the water.

Kate and Greg (or me) could not have asked for a better wedding party.  They were an enthusiastic and fun bunch and always ready for some photos.  After a casual walk around the lake, we all headed for the Halls of St. George in Schererville where family and friends were awaiting the ceremony.

We had some nice cloud cover and this made for a very pleasant ceremony for guests as well as the wedding party.  Kate was given away by her father as Greg awaited.  The ceremony was never solemn as their pastor was part officient and part entertainer.  Lots of smiles and laughter throughout.

We took outdoor family photos right after the ceremony and then it was inside for dinner, dancing and socializing.  The best man and maid of honor, Darrell and Ashley rocketed into the room during introductions.  As you can see, we had some party crashers during the cutting of the cake, but I made sure security escorted them out!!  :)

The room took on a purple hue for first dances and soon the floor filled to capacity.  Let the good times roll...

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at the Halls of St. George

July 16, 2013 Steve Vansak

An outdoor summer wedding in the gazebo at the Halls of St. George in Schererville, Indiana.

Josh and Amanda had quite the crowd at their outdoor wedding ceremony at the Halls of St. George in Schererville, Indiana.  As we waited for the bride to make her entrance, the groom exchanged laughter as he recognized friends in the crowd of well wishers in front of the gazebo at the Schererville reception hall.

Both of these families exhibited a lot of laughter as I spent the day with them.   As the winds kept blowing out the unity candles inside the gazebo, family members and the wedding party tried to keep them lit and having fun with the moment.

Capturing Josh and Amanda's kiss was no problem as they smooched an extra long time, completed with the groom dipping his bride in front of family and friends.

The day started with hair and make up at The Color Room Salon and Day Spa in Dyer, Indiana.   It was there that I found some of the girls under hair dryers, others getting make up done and our bride Amanda texting love messages to her soon to be husband...

Amanda looked stunning even in the salon without her dress.  She was going to be a gorgeous bride for sure.

We spent some time at the couple's house where the girls ate Jimmy Johns for lunch and eventually got into their dresses.  We took a whole bunch of photos at this time with mom, bridesmaids and the flower girl as well as detail shots of the dress, shoes and more.

We've been having a lot of rain in Northwest Indiana this year and it's dampened a lot of weddings, but it was full on sunshine for Amanda's big day.

After the ceremony we visited the red caboose and railroad cars on display in downtown Griffith, Indiana for some bride and groom shots as well as silly wedding party photographs.

Soon we were back at the Halls of St. George for a delicious dinner and a night of dancing.  The groom's godfather gave a speech that was worthy of a skit on Comedy Central.  He had the crowd howling in laughter.
