Tucked into the heart of Chicago’s northside, The Chicago Magic Lounge offers one of the most unique wedding venue experiences in the city. Couple this with an artistic forward couple like David and Miranda, and we had an incredible experience capturing their big day in photo and video. As a Chicago wedding photographer, it truly is an event I will not forget.
Before I give you my sneak peek at this Chicago wedding, let’s learn a bit more about the location.
Couples searching for a nontraditional Chicago wedding venue will find the Chicago Magic Lounge for its dramatic lighting, stylish cocktail spaces, and one-of-a-kind ambiance that blends old-school glamour with modern sophistication. From emotional ceremonies to lively receptions, every part of the venue photographs beautifully, making it an incredible choice for Chicago wedding photography.
Rather than a traditional ballroom wedding, couples can celebrate in a space filled with character, live magic performances, rich architectural details, and cozy lounge-style seating that encourages connection and conversation.
Our day started with bride and groom prep at The Guest House Hotel, which is within walking distance of the venue. It is a boutique hotel with oversized rooms that was perfect for getting ready photos.
I imagine it's perfect for unwinding after a wedding reception as well, and the cityscape view from the roof is ideal for bridal portraits and lounging.

We all agreed that the courtyard adjacent to The Guest House Hotel would be the perfect location for the first look / reveal. David waited patiently as Miranda approached him and the came together in a warm embrace as the wedding party looked on.

We walked along Clark Street in the Andersonville neighborhood in Chicago, taking portraits and video of the couple as they made their way to The Magic Lounge.
Of course, we used this unique and stylish Chicago wedding venue for artistic, fun portraits of the bride and groom before the day's festivities began.
After entering via the secret entrance, guests at weddings at The Magic Lounge Chicago are greeted by a stylish cocktail space with roaming magicians performing at their tables.
Miranda and David displayed their fun and quirky engagement photos on the memorabilia table, and the speakeasy served up drinks before the lights dimmed and the matinee magic performance commenced on stage.

The ceremony took place on the same stage as the magic performances, with the wedding party walking down the center aisle in front of the mezzanine.
Miranda was escorted by her mother as David looked on.
The vows were emotional at times, and uproarious fun in sections, and ultimately, incredibly heartfelt. I felt incredibly proud to be there, capturing every moment unfolding.

As guests sat back and took in the room's vintage decor, speeches began onstage and became performances in their own right.
After the love and laughter and emotional good wishes were extended to the newlyweds, the room erupted with music, dancing, and singing as guests rushed the stage to celebrate.
