Getting Ready
Anna and Peter traveled from the Washington DC area to have their wedding near the bride’s hometown. Many guests traveled from the east coast and elsewhere around the country for the couple’s October wedding at Lighthouse Restaurant in Cedar Lake, Indiana.
I handled groom prep as well as bridal prep as the solo photographer for the day. Peter and his groomsmen got ready at the Crown Point home of the bride’s parents with Anna and her bridesmaids at the bridal suite at Lighthouse Restaurant.
A hidden note from the groom to the bride was found inside of her second pair of shoes reserved for the reception.

First Look
A wonderful first look took place on the walkway on the side of the restaurant leading toward the pier. It was an emotional moment as Anna slowly walked toward Peter and they eventually embraced.

We then did photographs with the wedding party, the bride and groom creative wedding portraits as well as family wedding photos before the late afternoon outdoor wedding ceremony.

Ceremony
The ceremony took place inside the outdoor gazebo overlooking the lake. The Autumn temperatures made for comfortable guests despite the full sun overlooking the proceedings. The reading of the vows were extremely heartfelt and really added to the casual elegance of the entire outdoor wedding ceremony.

After the ceremony the bride and groom and myself took a few sunset wedding portraits before nightfall and the reception began.

Reception
The guests were treated to the usual elegance on display at Lighthouse Restaurant with the balcony open for those who wanted some fresh Autumn air. I may have seen a few cupcakes make their way outside after dinner. However, with the dance floor spilling out onto the carpet, I’d say most came to party rather than chill.
