Emilee and Matt’s October wedding at The Lighthouse Restaurant in Cedar Lake, Indiana was the perfect blend of lakeside charm and autumn elegance. We had two emotional first looks with stunning sunset portraits along the lakefront. Every part of their celebration at The Lighthouse captured the warmth and joy of their love story — a day every wedding photographer longs to document.
The day began with Emilee prepping in the Lighthouse Restaurant bridal suite and Matt at a local hotel. Details were captured alongside loving moments with family before we had our two big first looks of the day.

Emilee had two emotional first looks in a row, the first was with Dad on the balcony overlooking the lake, and the second occurred with Matt in the stairwell leading to the ballroom, which has her favorite “funky decor” of the nautical themed wedding venue.

Late Fall weddings are limited by shorter daylight hours. It would be dark during the last moments of the ceremony, with no time for portraits featuring Autumn leaves and more. So, we decided to do most of the couple’s portraits in the afternoon hours before the ceremony, along with family photos.
Sunset photos, and even some twilight portraits, as golden hour transitioned into blue hour, would happen after the ceremony.
