Heather and Gordon: Hobart, Indiana Wedding

Gordon and Heather had a June wedding at Grace Lutheran in Hobart, Indiana.  It's the beautiful white church on Route 51 by the hospital.  Click on the image below for a large view.

Hanging out with Heather and Holly and Kavita before the ceremony was a lot of fun.  Getting to know them at this time made us all more comfortable and we were able to get natural looking shots for the rest of the day.

While Heather and the girls were getting ready doing their thing, I'd occasionally get kicked out of the room.  Time to grab some groomsmen for some tough guy shots.

One of my favorites of the guys...

Right before the ceremony began I took my place in the designated areas as requested by Pastor Frederick.  In this case, behind the last pew and in the balcony.  Time to break out the "wildlife lens".

Heather and Gordon chose the add on of Portraits at the Reception which proved to be a big hit with their guests....

Here are the two love birds now.  Thanks for a great day guys!!  Can't wait to get that wedding album in your hands!!!

Sneak Peak: David and Debbie's Motorcycle Wedding

It was a whirlwind day covering David and Debbie's motorcycle wedding.  We started in Highland, Indiana with getting ready shots, then to Gary for the ceremony and finally to Griffith, Indiana for the Formals and the Reception.

The above shot was taken at Oak Ridge Prairie, a hidden away park off just off Colfax St. in Griffith by the airport.  What you see is the big sledding hill that kids enjoy in the Winter.

I will have more images to post as the week progresses and you will see more of the Harley Davidson theme.  For now, enjoy this sneak peak and enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.

Formal Fun Shots (or Who Cares About Technique)

Technically speaking there are some things wrong with the above image.  Usually I never put my subjects right in the sun to make them squint and bake to death in their nice clothes.  However, sometimes spontaneous and fun is the way to go.  We were out at Coffee Creek Park for the above shot with some beautiful scenery and I just directed these folks onto these rocks and had them do whatever came to mind.  We took a whole bunch of shots.  I would have loved to have gotten their entire reflection in the water, but I do believe I would have fallen off the bridge I was standing on, had I backed up any further!!

A funny aside to this shot is that I had another wedding party getting ready to have their ceremony right behind me on the bridge.  They were nervous that we would be their all afternoon, but there was no way I'd have my folks out in the sun too long.  So, we got a quick grab image that has some technical problems, but so what.  We had a fun time taking it and it was a hit for the bride and groom's album.

We will definitely have a game plan for your images, but sometimes it's great to just try something off the cuff.
