Engagement Session at my Crown Point Portrait Studio

As the photographer, it's my job to keep the flow and positive vibes going no matter what type of session I'm doing.  They say the camera looks both ways and since I'm not a sour person I have no problems bringing a littler personality out of my clients.  Maggie and Joe were recently in for an engagement session in my Crown Point studio and they turned the tables on me!!  At one point I had to put the camera aside as they had me laughing so much.  In short, it was a fun session...

I will be photographing the fun loving couple's wedding this November and they wanted some nice portraits to display in the lobby of The Patrician where their wedding and reception are being held.  They will also be using a few in video slideshow that will chronicle their lives together.

We took a variety of images on simple backgrounds of white, black and blue.  This is merely a sneak peek with many more to come.  I'll end with one where I told Joe to whisper in Maggie's ear which brought a big old cheesy grin to her face.  I can't wait to photograph their big day!!

I will be the wedding photographer at Brett and Maureen's Fall wedding at Ogden Garden in Valparaiso this coming September.  The young couple was recently in for a studio engagement session.  The guitar playing groom to be didn't take much coaxing as he serenaded his fiance in front of one of my black backdrops here at my Crown Point studio.

We had a very simple session with me just talking wedding stuff as the happy couple cuddled up close.

They both have eyes that are very piercing, yet tender at the same time.  Some of the black and white treatments I did have a very soft vignette that I hope captured the romantic vibe I felt between the engaged couple.

I simply asked them to look up at each other and it didn't take long for some laughs to come forth...

I like to play music at sessions and perhaps it was the funky R&B shuffling from my iPhone, but inhibitions were quickly lost and the romantic couple had no problems with kissing for the camera for some up close and personal photos.

Ogden Garden should be alive with Fall colors come the September 29th wedding.  I'm looking forward to capturing the vivid red, yellow and orange colors I know will be there to illuminate a very colorful wedding.  this is why i chose to conver many of the studio engagement photos into artsy black and whites.

Of course, the full color versions are available as well.

Newborn Studio Portrait Session

What in the world is going on?!!  Studio baby pictures on a wedding site!!  Well, yes.  Every once in awhile I like to show my studio work here and since my past clients Thomas and Jo have been featured here before in a Chicago engagement session, this was the perfect opportunity to tell their story.

They were married in the Philipines last summer and I was unfortunately unable to photograph their wedding.  However, we had a great time at their winter Chicago Session.

A couple of weeks ago we were about to schedule a pregnancy session at my portrait studio in Crown Point.  On Easter Sunday, baby Kenzo just could not be contained any longer and they told me it was too late for the session - a new baby boy had now entered this world.  I was extremely honored that they chose me to photograph their newborn for the very first time.

The new mom and Dad certainly doted over their new arrival.  The portrait session didn't go uninterrupted though as Kenzo's feeding time came an hour before if you get the drift!!  That's okay, we do request that the baby be fed before hand as the newborns tend to be happier and more calm when they are not hungry.  If a mess occurs, that's life!!  Besides, it was Dad who got sprayed and not the photographer!!!

Only two weeks old, Kenzo's little hands are something to see next to his parents...

The image we were striving to get was the resting baby in a white basket surrounded by multi colored yarn ( he loved to grab that stuff).  It was a lot harder than it looks, but after several tries and a lot of patience, we finally got what we wanted.

Congratulations and a big thank you to TJ and Jo for bringing their bundle of joy to my studio to photograph.  Can't wait for the one year images next Easter!!

Back to more brides and grooms starting tomorrow!!
