Fall Wedding at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church

The Fall wedding of Dustin and Jenny began at Salon Capellani where the bride was having her make up done by artist Shannon Grimmer of Beauty Concepts with lit candles in the foreground of the upscale salon in Munster.

The service there was impeccable with congratulatory wine being served while the bridesmaids had their hair and make up attended to.

The Getting Ready session continued at the bride's home where my assistant and I took detail shots of the blue garter along with the wedding shoes, jewelry and more.  A dedicated army of bridemaids were on hand to help with the tying of the dress...

Our bride Jenny was absolutely beaming while she walked down the aisle with her Dad at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Highland.

During these usually longer Catholic wedding ceremonies, I like to zoom in for some candids of the bride and groom as they whisper to each other and have a sneak laugh.

Our groom Dustin was smiling throughout the gorgeous Fall day, but none more so as when he and Jenny took their vows and exchanged rings.  He truly is a happy man!!

Friends and family awaited outside Our Lady of Grace ready to celebrate the newly married couple by covering them in bubbles as they walked out into the sunlight.

One of my favorite images so far is this off kilter photo of the bride and groom as they share a kiss on the bridge at Centennial Park in Munster.  I love the Simpson like clouds in the blue sky during this crisp Autumn day in September.

Seeing as it's now football season, why not have the groomsmen line up in an offensive scrimmage and play a few downs?!!

The day ended at Cloister in the Woods banquet hall in Munster with the gride and groom dancing amidst the blue uplighting.

Trash the Dress at Washington Park Beach

Michele and I had discussed a Trash the Dress photo session when we first met to discuss her wedding photography.  She was very excited about the idea and we pretty much had it in mind that after her engagement photos in downtown Crown Point and her pretty wedding photos at Centennial Park, our next photo opportunity was going to be a bit more funky.

We started out very subtle with a "bride in distress" image with her husband rescueing her from the railrod tracks.  These days, train track images are a little cliche', but we needed to start Michele out slowly I thought.  After all, wedding dresses are a thing of beauty, cost a pretty penny and are difficult from a psychological standpoint to actually trash.

After some nervous trial runs down some sand dunes at Washington Park beach in Michigan City, our bride was finally ready to actually trash her dress by entering Lake Michigan and walking back towards the camera.  I very much like the tentative look on her face.  At this point we had already done a sunset dip on the shore, pourded dry sand on the dress and the pretty sunset dip on the shore pictured above.  It was now time to enter the water!!  :)

In the meantime, click below to see a larger version of one of my favorites so far.  I love the seaweed on the rocks and the grunginess of the foreground against the beauty of the bride.  So glad we climbed down off the pier to take these images.  Great job Michele and Nick!!

Outdoor Wedding at Wicker Park Gazebo in Munster, Indiana

- click image to enlarge -

Nichole and Nathan's outdoor wedding at the Wicker Park gazebo in Munster, Indiana was an all American affair with the two soldiers tying the knot in front of friends and family at a wonderful summer ceremony.

I lost count of all the smiles as the bride and groom exchanged vows under the roof of the large white gazebo that can be seen from Indianapolis Blvd.

It was a long, glorious walk for the wedding party down the path from the Wicker Park Social Center to the outdoor ceremony area.  So much so, that the flower girl actually turned around to go back at one point!!

We had great temperatures but quite a bit of wind.  Before the ceremony, the happy couple with the wedding party wandered the grounds taking photographs...

The crazy wind gave us some wicked looking clouds, but also gave the bridesmaids fits with their hair....

We took fun photos of the bridesmaid's zebra print wedding shoes....

....along with photojournalistic wedding photos of the bride and groom along with some classic shots in front of the fountain in black and white.

For the groomsmen photos, I had the guys follow their soldier groom in tribute to the Quentin Tarantino movie Reservoir Dogs.  They seem to always like the tough guy look of it, especially in black and white.

I really enjoyed covering Nichole and Nathan's outdoor ceremony as it afforded me a variety of different angles. This closeup of the two soldiers holding hands was given a sepia toned antique look.

Keeping detail in the bride's dress is constantly on mind when shooting weddings.  I was so glad to achieve that in this photo with Nichole smiling toward the camera as her and Nathan exchange their wedding vows.

The first kiss is also on my list of wedding photo must haves...

Here the just married couple shares a kiss down the walkway as they exit the ceremony site with friends and family looking on.

Over on the SBV Photography Facebook Page, I asked for help in captioning this military wedding photo collage i made.  The caption I picked was Love, American Style.  I think it fits perfectly, don't you?  Take a look at it large and see what you think.

Dunes Beach Wedding

Greg and Kari were married in Jamaica this past July, but had their celebration here in Northwest Indiana in September.  They continued their beach theme with a photo shoot at Marquette Park.  The wedding party along with the couple's family strolled along with us around the sandy Indiana lakeshore.  We started out with this "almost kiss" in silhouette inside the landmark bath house on the beach....

The lagoon behind the Marquette Park Pavilion made for a gorgeous backdrop for wedding photos of our beautiful bride Kari and her pretty bridesmaids, including maid of honor Amy.

This is merely a sneak peek as we have many more beach photos and family shots back at the bride and groom's home.  I can't let this post go by without posting at least one image of the bride and groom roaring in on their Harley Davidson.  I put together this composite to give you a look at the great cake topper along with the fun loving couple during their first dance.

The Elks Lodge in Hobart were great host and the live band made for some great sounding entertainment.  I love to see live music represented at weddings and this has happened several times this year already.  I will have to gether these up for a future post in the near future.
