Wedding At The Inn At Aberdeen

July 10, 2017 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom at the garden entrance of The Inn At Aberdeen in Valparaiso, IN

Kara and Hans had a lovely summer day for their outdoor wedding at The Inn At Aberdeen in Valparaiso, Indiana.  This venerable bed and breakfast is a great spot for bridal prep as well as an intimate wedding.  We started our day with Kara getting ready with the help of her daughter and friends.

I photographed Kara in the lovely halls of The Inn while Hans awaited his bride outside in front of the gazebo.  Soon Kara would be walking down the aisle with a beaming groom to greet her and adoring friends and family.

The gazebo garden area is where outdoor weddings take place and it is tucked away below in a little valley.  Kara was able to stand atop of the hill and look out at the scene before she came down the cobblestone pathway.  The flower girl lined her path before she descended down the aisle.

The ceremony was quite the family affair, including the performing musicians who then made their way to light the unity candles with their parents.

After family pictures Hans and Kara strolled around the garden with me for romantic photos. Then we headed in for cocktails, cake cutting and dinner.

The reception soon came outside again where the bride and groom had their first dance as Angelo Cicco performed acoustically.  Guests chatted as the sun came down and danced inside the gazebo.  It was a wonderful summer night.

Spring Wedding At Villa Cesare In Schererville, Indiana

May 22, 2017 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom kiss at the fountain at Centennial Park.

It was a day of great emotion at Emily and Zach's Spring wedding at Villa Cesare.  It may hold the record for the most amount of hugs being passed around and certainly the most high fives!!

Our day started with me covering the girls getting ready.  I got to see all of the emotion around the entire room as Melissa Marshall did make up and Toby the puppy brought the laughs.

Emily could not have asked for a better group of bridesmaids.  They offered up hugs, mimosa's, laughter and general fawning over the bride on her big day.

Wedding day bridal prep served up fresh with morning mimosa's.

After Emily got into her dress and received visits from mom, dad and other family - the emotional moments started coming a mile a minute.

We were then off for a bridesmaids lunch at Houlihan's Restaurant while second photographer Kerrie captured Zach and the guys "working out".

We were keeping a close eye on the weather and I have to admit that I was concerned that the first look at Centennial Park would get rained out.  We had a back up plan, but we didn't need it as the skies opened up and we only got purple rain in the form of Emily's wedding colors.

So much emotion poured forth as Zach awaited Emily on the bridge at Centennial Park as the wedding party looked on.

The entire wedding party then joined us on the bridge and then off we went for couple's photos all around the park.

The garden at Centennial Park is beautiful this time of year and colors really popped due to the rain that morning.

I had been clued in that there would be a high five after the ceremony, but I wanted to capture one at the park too.  Also, Zach wanted to show off the grape soda bottle caps that they would be wearing as they said their vows a bit later.

A few more fun shots with the girls and then we were off to Villa Cesare for the ceremony.

The outdoor ceremony took place at the gazebo of Villa Cesare where friends and family gathered as Emily came down the aisle.  I captured their first kiss, but then waited for my favorite moment - the second or two after the first kiss - pure joy!

Villa Cesare was decorated in a purple hue as guests dined, danced and prayed to the gods of 1970's disco songs.  The first dances were beautiful.

Wedding At The Center For Visual And Performing Arts

October 24, 2016 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom walk along a path at Briar Ridge Country Club golf course.

Joel and Shaina held their Fall wedding at two very prestigious venues - The Center For Visual and Performing Arts and Briar Ridge Country Club.

Our day started at The Center For Visual and Performing Arts in Munster, Indiana with a "no cry zone" set up in the bridal suite.  Sister of the bride and MOH Chandra could not contain herself much to the amusement of all the other women.  Shaina's dress was a wonderful combination of neutral and white.

The gallery at the center would become the setting for cocktail hour later in the day, but it became our backdrop for bride and bridesmaid photos that afternoon.  Shaina was pure elegance against the grand piano with the wonderful artwork surrounding her.

I could not let the spiral staircase at the Center go unused.  I also knew it would soon be filled with people attending the reception and other events.  In early afternoon, however, we had it to ourselves.

The outdoor ceremony saw us moving to Briar Ridge Country Club in Dyer, Indiana.  The bride's nephew Tommy let Joel know that Shaina was on her way.  The nuptials were tucked away outside one of the ballrooms off the golf course with sunshine streaming down.

After family photos, we captured the wedding party together along with images of the newly married couple.  Some of the trees on the golf course are quite large and I couldn't wait to get the bride and groom under the shade of one of them with the Autumn leaves and blue skies.

For the reception it was back to The Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster, Indiana. The gallery was swinging with cocktail hour guests and the main ballroom looked elegant as the newlyweds were introduced and toasts began from the best man and MOH.

Not only did Shaina get married on this fine October day, she also won the air guitar championship as band Final Say rocked the room into the night.

Fall Wedding At Avalon Manor

October 10, 2016 Steve Vansak

Bride and groom display their Thank You sign on wedding day.

Fall is upon us with temperatures falling, Autumn leaves in all kinds of colors and wedding season at it's peak!!  Stephanie and Brett's October wedding saw us going from getting ready at the groom's parent's home to a first look at Taltree Arboretum and our final destination of Avalon Manor in Merrillville, Indiana.

Stephanie and her girls were in great spirits as I captured all of their laughs and all of their toasts!  As their tee shirts stated - the bridesmaids got the bubbly, but Stephanie got a hubby!

Stephanie and Brett's first look at Taltree Arboretum in Valparaiso was filled with wonderfully real emotion.  After this private moment that we captured from a distance, we went all around the nature preserve  with the wedding party and eventually ended with some romantic photos of the soon to be married couple.

First look / reveal at Taltree Arboretum.

From the glistening sun poking through the colorful trees to the blue skies and the lake, we pretty much had a gorgeous backdrop every way we turned.  We heard a few farm animals on the loose as well.

The bridesmaids each had their own sign showing their connection to Stephanie.  It was a nice continuation of Stephanie and Brett's engagement photos from last Fall.

Stephanie's dress was just perfect and I especially loved the texture within it.  We took a few wide shots to show off the dress as well as the picturesque nature all around us.

We lined up the wedding party up on top of the rolling hills at the entrance of Taltree Arboretum with the sun shining brightly behind them.  Then it was time for some cute blowing kisses pictures before we took off for the early evening ceremony.

The outdoor ceremony at Avalon Manor saw every seat full along with a standing crowd in the back.  Two acoustic guitar players strummed and sang as the wedding party entered and exited. Stephanie and Brett were grinning ear to ear through their vows and raised their hands in the air in celebration as they were pronounced husband and wife.

After family photos it was time to go inside for cake cutting and speeches.  Oh, the decor and candy buffet from How Sweet It Is Events was simply SPECTACULAR!!
