Romantic Engagement Photos On A Farm In Lowell, Indiana

October 23, 2014 Steve Vansak

A couple in love embrace in the middle of a bean field in Lowell, Indiana.

When Katherine told me I would be photographing her and Justin on her parent's farm, this city boy was excited to make the drive south to Lowell, Indiana.  It was a spectacular setting and we took romantic engagement photos in an adjacent bean field as well as portraits with farmland and a private lake as our backdrop.

I almost crashed the ranger we were driving on into a ditch of dirty water but thankfully no casualties at this session to report!!  We simply drove around the vast property and when I saw a photo opportunity like this soft, sun drenched pathway we took it.  We went for soft, romantic natural light images such as the one below as well as capturing the dramatic sky as the sun peaked out behind some wicked looking clouds.  We had a lot of fun!!

A big thank you to Katherine's parents for letting us use their property for their daughter's and Justin's engagement photos.  This is a sneak peek preview with many more to come.

Fun Fall Engagement Photos at Lemon Lake Park

October 16, 2014 Steve Vansak

A sun burst star explodes in the sky in this Fall engagement photo.

Here in Northwest Indiana we love Fall except for the fact that we know what's coming next.  So we make sure we go outside to soak up Autumn's fresh temperatures, it's invigorating energy and especially it's incredible colors.  I get a lot of requests for engagement photos in the Fall so it was no surprise when Lauren and Ryan scheduled their session at Lemon Lake Park.

We started off with a family photo with their two dogs and then we darted off into the woods for some romantic and fun photo opportunities.

Lemon Lake was incredibly reflective this particular day and we definitely used it for our photographs.  We were going for romantic as well as fun with Lauren getting a piggyback ride from Ryan, and me spying on the couple as they sat on a nearby log.  I told them to relax at the edge of the pier for awhile and just soak up the beautiful light that was falling upon them overlooking the lake.

The wonderfully tall trees are another great setting for pictures and I loved the sun rays as they came through the tall branches and Ryan and Lauren kissed.

I hope you have enjoyed this look at Lauren and Ryan's engagement session.  With winter approaching don't think that time has passed you by for your own photographs.  Winter snow can make for great, romantic images.  My studio is also quite toasty as well.  Fill out the Contact Form to inquire about your options.

Romantic Engagement Photos at Indiana Dunes

October 13, 2014 Steve Vansak

A couple shows off Purdue pride in their engagement photo at the Indiana Dunes.

Along with romantic strolls along the beach, Erica and Alex showed off Purdue pride during their recent engagement session at Marquette Park Beach.  I met them early in the morning on the mostly deserted shores of Lake Michigan near the Aquatorium.

The skyline of Chicago can be seen in the background of this engagement photo along Lake Michigan.

There was a faint haze in the sky, but we could still see the skyline of Chicago as we took images all along the sandy shores.  The temperatures were cool, but invigorating and aside from the occasional jogger or dog walker we were all alone to take natural and romantic images.

Being so close to Marquette Park Pavilion, we made sure to visit the lagoon and it's wonderful bridge.  The morning sun gave a burnt orange look to the brush and I loved capturing the rays as they shined upon the couple through the trees in the nearby park.

This Fall has turned out to be one of the busiest seasons ever for engagement photos.  I've also found this time of year to be the busy for weddings as well, almost surpassing June.  Many more Fall engagement sessions to appear here along with weddings.  If you enjoyed this sneak peek look at Erica and Alex's romantic engagement photos at the beach, please subscribe below and visit the Region Weddings Facebook page for more updates.

Downtown Chicago Engagement Photos

September 29, 2014 Steve Vansak

The future bride and groom wear Chicago Blackhawks jerseys that show off their wedding date.

I had loads of fun photographing Nicole and Allen's engagement photos in downtown Chicago.  I will be shooting their wedding on September 19th next year and as you can see above, these Blackhawks fans know how to get the word out to friends and family.  I foresee some really cool Save the Date cards arriving in mailboxes soon.

The couple chose the Chicago Sessions engagement package so they will have a color photo gallery as well as vintage looking black and white versions.  As usual, we started with the arrival of the train at the platform in Indiana and then made our way all around the city.  We stumbled upon Rudy's which is wear the couple dined when they visited Chicago when Allen proposed.

We used the grit of the city as our backdrop.  The L train roared above and the now iconic blue bicycles were everywhere.  It was a day of laughter as a photo shoot in Chicago can sometimes attract interesting attention from tourist.

While we definitely wanted to capture the grandeur of the windy city, we also wanted some nice close up portraits for Nicole and Allen to show off to family and friends.  The Chicago River and the Millennium Garden gave us both.

We ended our session in the evening hours overlooking the city skyline as it was all lit up.  The glowing stars of the street lamps matched that of the glowing faces of Nicole and Allen.  A perfect ending to a great day of engagement photos in downtown Chicago.
