Weddings are always a celebration with family and friends, but when a traditional Greek wedding comes along, I know it will be about FAMILY in a big way. It also means lots of moments and traditions to capture throughout the day. I’m always up for that!

We had quite the sunny day for Kelly and Anthony’s wedding at Sts Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville, Indiana with the reception at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.
One of Kelly’s childhood dreams was to get ready at her parent’s home and that is exactly what she did with a quick stop at the nearby lake for a photo to show off her gorgeous dress and this lovely day.
Photographer Kerrie was with the guys as I captured the bridal prep. Soon we would all meet up at Sts Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville for the Greek wedding ceremony.
The wedding ceremony featured the ritual of placing of the crowns on the bride and groom while the Koumbaros intertwined them three times to symbolize the couple’s union.
The bride and groom exited the church as family and guests showered them with flowers.
We took our outdoor wedding photos at the beautiful Sand Creek Country Club as guests arrived for the dinner and reception. We took a variety from romantic wedding photos to candid moments to dramatic sky wedding photos all around the golf course.
Opa - It’s time for the off the charts wedding reception complete with Greek music, flying dollar bills and line dancing galore!!

Wedding At St. George Greek Orthodox Church
Maggie and Ben had a lovely day for their Fall wedding at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Schererville, Indiana. We started the day at the home of the bride’s parents where in addition to hair and make up by Melissa Marshall - on location shoulder massages were being given courtesy of the father of the bride.
A swarm of bees attacked the flower girl and “please turn on the blue tooth” means the sister of the bride and maid of honor can and will break into dance.
Oh, and another photographer showed up to try and upstage me!! :)
I photographed some at home portraits of the bride while second photographer Jaime captured the guys who were right next door. Then it was off to the church for the ceremony.
Let it be known that if it wasn’t for You Tube, no groomsmen’s ties in all of America would be properly placed and secured.
The bride walked down the aisle escorted by her Dad as friends and family looked on. St. George Greek Orthodox Church has some incredible architecture so I made sure to take some wide shots to show it off along with getting in close to see the happy expressions of these newlyweds.
After family photos at the altar it was time for wedding party and bride and groom pictures. A few in the church and then we went to Lake Hills Park in St. John to capture some Fall color.
We met up with the wedding party for group photos and then it was off to the reception at The Patrician.
Wedding reception guests at The Patrician Banquets were treated to some sweet treats and lovely decorations when they arrived. The bride and groom were introduced and immediately went into their first dance and cake cutting. After dinner it was parent dances and then the dance floor opened up.
If dancing wasn’t your thing, you could always grab your coloring books for entertainment. And yes, that is REAL MONEY all over the dance floor!

Wedding at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hammond
Kathy and Larry were married just last weekend at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hammond, Indiana. This Catholic wedding was a traditional affair with Greek decorative touches showing off the bride's Greek heritage.

The day started at Vanis Hair Salon in Schererville with Kathy's long time hair stylist and make up artist getting her ready for her big day.
The ceremony was traditional, but not without some wonderful commentary from Father David in which he weaved great marital advise with nerve calming humor. Soon it was time for Larry to kiss his bride....
Family formals were taken inside the church as family and friends looked on. Although I have not gone through all of the wedding photos of the day yet, I have a feeling this image of the bride at the altar beneath the glowing atmospheric lighting of the church's chandeliers is going to be one of my favorites.

Our next stop for wedding party pictures and couple's shots was Centennial Park in Munster, Indiana. I always like to take photographs around the circular boardwalk of the Centennial lake with the fountain in the background...
The wedding reception took place at Andorra Banquet Hall in Schererville. Their spacious lobby was home to Kathy and Larry's many tables of wedding decorations such as this mini bridal dress with one of their formal studio portraits in the background.
The bride and groom entered the main ballroom surrounded by Greek columns on each side of the door way...
I couldn't help but notice how much they gazed at each other during their first dance as long time rock and pop band Pawnz played music on stage.
